In this article, as I reflected on my with puppies, I was of my exciting dive into the world of high drive dogs. The incredible feeling of channeling that drive is, but let’s be real—it takes dedication and plenty learning from our mistakes to truly connect with these amazing animals.

1) PLAY. Engage with these dogs through play!’s what makes you irresistible and shows that you’re the main event compared to anything else out there. And trust me, this takes serious skill!

 

2) CONNECTION. This is the heart of the Engagement Equation! Without genuine connection, your dog might as well be playing solo. Bring your best to the table your voice, eye contact, and energy—this is what makes you an partner!

 

3) CRITERIA. When training, is key! Know exactly you want to reinforce, breaking it down into manageable pieces your dog to grasp. But remember, this means nothing without #4.

 

4) CONSISTENCY. High drive dogs are incredibly smart, and any confusion can lead to unwanted behaviors. lower drive dogs might quit, high drive dogs can get creative in ways we don’t—so let’s keep things clear and consistent!

Tailor your approach to fit your style! There’s so much more to learn, and I certainly gathered my share of insights along the way.
